That's great to hear George. I have a similar takeaway after reflecting on this time of my life – simple, but that's the way these things are. Thanks for reading!
Thanks Jenna! I was able to, over time. I think it took a while for me to get on my feet and feel like I was in control of my life – it's still something I watch out for as a signal that things aren't right
Love this—not even mad that I didn't get a mention. Hawaii is a strangely unreal place. I felt like our time there was outside of space (not only geographically distant from everything that makes up our lives at home, but also physically distinct, as if all of the variables that make up our lives at home could not be recreated in Hawaii), and outside of time (newly graduated, somewhere between being told what to do and doing things for ourselves, sometime before our lives really began). This piece really captured that for me and brought it all back.
When Calvin visited, we went snorkeling at Makua Beach, near the Northwest tip of Oahu. When we were far from the shore, he pulled my leg frantically. I turned to see a pod of dolphins drifting toward us. They surrounded us, eyed us warily, then moved off in a clump. They spiraled together toward the surface, grazing the sky.
Really enjoyed this one. Inspires me to stop and be more present with my life.

So beautiful, Miles, thank you for sharing this! Were you able to leave the strangling sensation under that amazing rainbow?

Loved reading this piece, Miles. Seems to invite expansion, too. Lots of trails that look inviting as we’re walking this main path.
Thanks Tina! Yes, I was struggling to cut it to around 2000 words. Maybe one day I'll write a memoir centered around this pivotal time of my life...

Totally agree.

Still, there were strawberries on the vine.
